Donor safety is of paramount importance to the plasma-derived therapies industry, and there is a growing body of scientific evidence showing that repeat plasma donation is safe and does not adversely impact donor health. This is important to showcase during International Plasma Awareness Week because without plasma donors, there would be no lifesaving plasma-derived medicines. These medicines are used across medical specialties, including hematology, neurology, emergency medicine, and more.
We’ve compiled a list of resources for you to learn more about donating plasma and the safety measures available to keep you safe!

- Learn about the International Quality Plasma Program (IQPP) standards, which provide leadership on donor management, health standards, and donation center standards. IQPP provides independent, third-party evaluation and recognition of a center's adherence to global industry standards for source plasma and helps ensure that only the highest-quality plasma is collected and used for the manufacture of plasma-derived medicines.
As an eligible donor, you have an opportunity to contribute lifesaving source plasma to patients in need – whether the patient is someone living with a rare disease, or someone going through a routine medical situation such as surgery, you can make a difference in someone’s life by donating plasma. During International Plasma Awareness Week, PPTA recognizes dedicated donors around the world, and encourages those who have never donated plasma before to consider doing so.
