The International Plasma Protein Congress (IPPC) is the premier event for the plasma sector in Europe. Hosted annually by the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA), the congress brings together global stakeholders to discuss the evolving landscape of plasma-derived medicinal products (PDMPs). Since its inception in Berlin in 2005, IPPC has grown into a valuable gathering for plasma sector professionals from Europe and beyond.  

This year’s event – held in Warsaw from May 20-21 – marks IPPC’s 20th anniversary, making the 2025 event an especially exciting and memorable gathering.  Whether you work in the plasma sector or a related health care field, here’s why you should attend IPPC 2025 and how to make the most of your experience.  

Who’s attending IPPC 2025? (And why you should be there, too!)

IPPC 2025 is set to welcome around 300 professionals to the stunning Sofitel Warsaw Victoria Hotel.

Here's a preview of what each session has in store for you.

IPPC begins with Session 1: Patient-Driven Progress: Advancing Plasma-Derived Medicines & Addressing Disparities. Patients and advocates from several different plasma protein deficiencies patient communities share their experiences around access barriers, diagnosis delays, and more. This important session sets the tone for the rest of the conference and emphasizes the industry’s shared commitment to improving the lives of patients and families.  

Session 2: Critical Medicines: European Strategies for Preventing Shortages and Securing Supply shifts the focus to Europe’s response to medicine shortages. Experts will examine supply chain vulnerabilities and explore the newly proposed Critical Medicines Act. Learn about Europe’s strategic approach to strengthening supply chains and preventing shortages and gain practical takeaways that can help you advocate for more resilient and reliable access to PDMPs.  

Session 3: Pushing Barriers: Global Perspectives on Improving Patient Access tackles complex factors that limit access to PDMPs beyond Europe and the U.S. This session looks at health care system challenges and the innovative solutions being implemented around the globe.  

Keeping an eye on the future, Session 4: Innovation: What’s Next for PDMPs provides an insightful look into novel innovations in the research and development of plasma-derived medicines. This session highlights recent progress in the field with a focus on improving patient outcomes through cutting-edge research.

On day two, Session 5: Methodologies in Donor Health and Safety Research looks at real-world data that is contributing to improved donor safety. And, after this session, you’ll hear from a plasma donor who shares why donating and giving back is an important aspect of their life.  

Then, Session 6: Building a Resilient Supply of Plasma for Fractionation, delves into strategies for building a resilient global plasma supply chain capable that can meet the growing demand for life-saving therapies. Experts will discuss the importance of public-private partnerships, the Substances of Human Origin (SoHO) legislation, and innovative approaches that foster sustainability and long-term stability.    

Lastly, Session 7, Ensuring Access: The Role of Market Policies for PDMPs, focuses on the latest developments in market access, including mandatory stockpiling and reimbursement policies. This session emphasizes the importance of adopting more flexible, patient-centric approaches.
