Washington, D.C. – The Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association (PPTA) welcomes the return of its annual North America-based conference, the Plasma Protein Forum (PPF). PPF is the premier intersection of the plasma protein therapeutics industry in North America, bringing industry, policymakers, health care providers, scientists, and patients together to learn and discuss key developments and issues.
Programming for this year’s event is centered around the theme of “Taking Steps Toward a Better Tomorrow” and focuses on the unique roles and collaboration of the plasma industry and the patient community, while identifying opportunities for further alignment and efficiencies in policy initiatives, regulatory efforts, and more.
Featured sessions of PPF 2024 include:
- On day one, patient advocate Patrick James Lynch delivers a keynote that that honors the industry’s ongoing commitment to safety
- Mike Busch, M.D., Ph.D., will deliver a day two keynote on how “omics” technologies have explored how whole blood (WB) donor heterogeneity affects the storage and transfusion efficacy of red blood cells and how both cross-sectional and longitudinal studies of WB donors are being employed for serosurveillance of viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, to prepare for emerging infectious diseases and how they both relate to improving plasma donor qualifications and the efficacy and access of plasma-derived products
- Former U.S. Congressman Kurt Schraeder, Axios Health Correspondent Victoria Knight, and policy strategist Alec Aramanda lead an expert conversation on how the U.S. election will impact the plasma industry
- Patients, advocates, and professionals from Canada share their challenges and successes in ensuring access to plasma-derived medicines and improving patient outcomes in Canada
- More panels and speakers can be viewed at pptaglobal.org/forum
Anita Brikman, PPTA President and CEO, said this when reflecting on the upcoming event: “PPF is a unique chance for industry professionals, patients who rely on plasma-derived medicines, and health care providers to unite around the shared cause of promoting plasma donation and access to plasma-derived medicines. The future of these therapies is an exciting one, with novel diagnosis and treatment options for patients. The plasma community must be ready to meet this growing need, and PPF provides an important opportunity to have these discussions.”
PPF takes place at the Washington Marriott Georgetown in the West End area of Washington, D.C. from November 19-20. Registration is open at pptaglobal.org/forum – plasma industry professionals, patient advocates, and providers are encouraged to attend. Members of the media are also welcome – please email to media@pptaglobal.org to secure your registration.
